About the Role
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise on transportation infrastructure projects for the IDOT. The engineer will work closely with project managers, construction engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are designed, developed, and implemented in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. The Civil Engineer will also be responsible for overseeing the work of junior engineers and technicians as required. Responsibilities include:
Develop and review engineering designs and plans for transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, and other structures
Ensure that engineering designs are in compliance with IDOT standards and regulations.
Prepare project estimates, schedules, and budgets
Review contractor submittals and construction plans to ensure compliance with project specifications
Conduct field inspections and assessments of transportation infrastructure
Analyze data and prepare reports on project progress, compliance, and performance
Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and contractors as needed
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and contractors
Requirements
BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
0-2 years of experience
Highly motivated and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
E.I.T. preferred
Knowledge of codes and standards
Proficiency with MS Office, 3D Modelling, MicroStation, and Open Roads Designer
